VGAR4 Bonus 2 – Gerudo Swag

As announced last time, there’s more bonus track coming this way. Remember how I said 2-3 derivatives? Because I was unsure if I should make this one. Well, now I did – so here’s Gerudo Swag!

This is an alternative version of Link vs Ganon where I didn’t have to worry about giving both of them enough spotlight and didn’t feel obliged to use Ganon’s Theme. Instead, have more Gerudo Valley. However, this is NOT a “Ganon’s Solo”, as Zelda’s Lullaby and Tal Tal Heights still kick in at the last part of the song.

I came up with the song name in about 5 seconds – so if the name accurately describes the song or not, is certainly up for debate:

Can’t have a song without a video to go along with it, right? I just noticed that I actually forgot to add the intro the other bonus songs have…

On an unrelated note, I added a Privacy Policy to the site to comply with GDPR (anyone here from Europe?). Gotta know where all the data goes, right? I’m no expert though, so I can only hope it’s complete. This also comes with new features, you can now request to view and/or delete your personal data on this site. This site doesn’t really save much info at all, so I don’t know if it’s even worth it – but if that is what you want to do, you can now use the contact form or the contact address of the Privacy Policy page to request either of the two.

Now excuse me, while I try to figure out how to work on the next derivative song and play Dark Souls Remastered at the same time.

VGAR4 Bonus 1 – Meta Knight’s Solo

We’ve arrived at the album-exclusive bonus tracks of VG Arch Rivals Vol. 4! There’s gonna be at least 3 of them, 2-3 derivatives and one new song. Take it with a bit of salt though, since you won’t be able to download these songs until the album comes out…

The first is Meta Knight’s Solo. I liked how the Meta Knight parts in Meta Knight vs Galacta Knight turned out and wanted to turn those parts into a dedicated song, without having to worry about giving Galacta Knight some spotlight as well.

Compared to Porky’s Solo from VG Arch Rivals Vol. 3 I actually changed quite a bit this time, like some instruments, added effects, a quite different song structure, so it took a bit longer than expected – I wanted it to be finished last week already, but apparently that wasn’t enough time…I’ll likely use some of the ideas I got while working on it to spice up the album version of Meta Knight vs Galacta Knight though.

There’s a video too, you know:

I’m actually falling a bit behind my schedule now. Next week, Dark Souls Remastered comes out and I wanted to deliver something for that occasion, which I won’t be able to do just yet. Although, the version for the Nintendo Switch has been delayed anyway, so I guess I still have a chance to deliver something then….

For now I’m focusing on the bonus songs though. Seeing how many there are, the album likely won’t be released before mid-June.

Squids vs Octos

At last, it’s time for the 5th song of VG Arch Rivals Vol. 4: Squids vs Octos!

To get straight to the point, it’s basically a Splatoon Medley, featuring Splattack!, Calamari Inkantation, Ebb and Flow (Splatoon 2) and a very little bit of Octoling Rendezvous. The song comes in two versions, a basic instrumental version and a version where Squid Miku sings a part of Ebb and Flow (with made up lyrics).

As usual, it’s not complete without a video:

Finally an opportunity to use the Vocaloid software in one of my songs, I’ve been waiting since last year for this! Making Miku sound understandable isn’t easy, but making her sound gibberish on purpose wasn’t too difficult at all. I can assure you that she’s singing actual English lyrics – although I doubt you can figure them out entirely. You’re welcome to guess – but the answer won’t be revealed until the album is finished!

Did you notice that the second part of Calamari Inkantation actually makes a reference to Splat Zone? You did, didn’t you~

On another note, getting the mixing right for this song was really difficult this time around, I spent a good while on that. I hope I did an ok job…

So what’s next? Are we done yet?

I’m not telling~
