Update regarding bandcamp

As you know, there’s quite a bit of stuff on my bandcamp page now. As you might also know, there’s only 200 free downloads per month. And, as you might have noticed: they’re usually gone in a few days. So we’re gonna change that up a bit.

Starting today, there will be about 2 bandcamp objects available for free, so the free downloads won’t go away that fast. We’re starting with the oldest stuff, I think most of you don’t even have that yet: Wrath of the Underlings Vol.1&2. Those are the biggest album projects on my bandcamp page, with 15+ tracks each. They are based mainly on regular battle themes and (non-final) boss battle themes, for example: VS Sylux (‘Shock Coil’), Final Fantasy IV Battle 2 (‘Boss Rush’), Lord Woo Fak Fak (‘Lord Woo Fak Bounce’), Rigid Paradise (‘Egyptian Zombie’), Popple Battle (‘Return of the Brilliant Thief’) and the G/S/C Gym Leader tune (‘Taking the Lead’).

So? What are you waiting for:

New Year stuff

So, it’s 2016 and you still haven’t hear a thing from me XO

Well, the thing is…Xenoblade Chronicles X. It takes up like…all of my free time, but I’ll manage! …eventually! I can only recommend this game btw, it’s more than a worthy sequel.

Back on non-existing topic: 2016 is the year of the monkey. What does that mean? It means we’ll have a lot of DK remixes this year. Boy, am I looking forward to it! I already started on the first mix, which will have DKC3‘s Hot Pursuit:

Just to start it off and warm up a bit, ya know~

Other than that, there’s only one project planned this year (since 2 like last year seemed a bit overkill), although it’s not exactly decided what it will be yet. Unless I can think of something really cool, it’s probably gonna be VG Arch Rivals Vol. 3. Either way, you’ll be notified about the project in-time. Don’t expect it anytime soon though!

And that’s already all I wanted to say, thanks for reading this and I hope you’re looking forward to another year full of…stuff!

Best of 2015

Another year is over. And what a year it was.

There were a few (minor) improvements in terms of music and the website I’d say. We have a music page which is now split into years (so it doesn’t take forever to load) on the one hand and we got some nice tunes this year as well, but I’ll be getting there shortly.

One thing that still bugs me are the SUGGESTIONS. I tried a lot of stuff by now, but nothing really seemed to work. That suggestions page didn’t really work out as expected either (should have seen that coming honestly). I’ll write down some of the interesting suggestions you posted and delete that page afterwards. I think we’ll just handle it old-school style, if you have a suggestion, post it in the YouTube comments (I actually read all the comments I get). Some of you seem to be doing that anyway, so it’s not much of a hassle I guess? I usually have a good idea of what’s hip at the moment, but your input might help as well. But remember there’s always other stuff I’d like to do, so don’t be disappointed, okay? XO

As usual, we celebrate the year by releasing a Best of album with all of the regular songs of the year. Since we had 2 album projects this year (which is…one too much apparently), there are not as many songs on that album as usual, but I think there were more memorable songs than usual. Splat Zone, Unacceptable, On Days Like These, Mask of Madness, Deku Rave…I think those really stand out. One of my personal favorites is Hyper Drive Divinity. That’s 6 songs out of 13, so almost half of them were especially memorable to me, I think that’s a pretty good cut!

Now, the songs on the Best of album have all been re-rendered to grant the listener maximum quality. You can download them in many different file formats, whatever you prefer. However, you’ll notice that some songs may sound a bit different. And that’s because they are. So let me quickly go over the things I changed:

  • Artificial Magic: changed the lead instrument for the Dullahan Under the Willows part to an organ. Fits a lot better in my opinion.
  • Deku Rave: this is actually the Best of Edit, which is a combination of the original Deku Rave and the Scrub Edit with some additional improvements.
  • Unacceptable: changed the distorted guitar during That Person’s Name Is to a synth and changed that part very slightly, so it flows even better.
  • Hard Drive Divinity: actually got some major changes, the bridge includes a pitch shift, the ending is different and I altered the drums at some parts a bit. See it as an upgraded version.
  • 30 Years of Starman: changed the lead instrument for the first Powerful Mario slightly. I removed the Main Theme from SM64 as well as some of Mario’s sounds, which felt unnecessary for the album version. Also includes other minor changes.

These versions of the songs are exclusive to the Best of album, which means you cannot get them anywhere else. Now, for the album itself, you can get it on Bandcamp as usual. There is a limited amount of free downloads per month, but experience shows you gotta be fast to get one. The early bird (…or the Sanic) gets the worm, as they say! After they are gone, you’ll have to throw some money at the screen (…no, wait, don’t do that! I was just trying to be funny…) to get it. Not much though! With that many exclusively upgraded songs it’s definitely worth it, no? Or you could just wait another month…but you don’t want to do that, do you~

At last, ladies and gentlemen, here it is: Best of DJ the S: 2015

Aaaaaaand here’s the related video:

And that’s it! I’m already looking forward to the next year, I wonder what awaits us there? For now, let me wish you a

Happy New Year!

Song preview

I do believe you were expecting a new song today…I’m afraid I’m not quite done yet. What I do have for you however, is a little preview of what’s going to happen: On Days Like These

I had that idea last week, it kinda struck me out of nowhere. Megalovania (Undertale) meets Last Battle (Cave Story).

That’s already all I have for you for now, but I’ll try to finish it by the next Sunday. I hope you’re at least a bit excited~

Supernatural Ruler – Album Release

As promised, Supernatural Ruler, the official album for Disciple Month 3, has been released today:

All of the songs have been re-rendered in max quality, because you only deserve the best. They also have been slightly altered, in the case of Supernatural Ruler the changes have been pretty major though, including an altered and added Splash part (which replaces the second Will Be Venus), an altered Megalovania and an improved ending. I believe it’s much better this way and hope it encourages you even more to download the album!

As for the download itself, the download should be free (unless you WANT to pay for it), BUT there’s only a limited amount of free downloads that bandcamp grants me (about 200 per month), so don’t be surprised if it says 1€ all of a sudden…you’d need to wait about a month until it will be free again. I’m sure this will happen in the next few days, you best hurry!

For reference, here’s the release video:

With that done, Disciple Month 3 has officially ended. Another Disciple Month is NOT planned. I know you have a ton of suggestions, but I just feel this is going nowhere. Because with every upload there will be people complaining about why this and that was not included although it would fit thematically. It doesn’t really leave me much freedom and everything feels forced, although Disciple Month was initially something great. I don’t want to spoil that further. That’s what I wanted to get off my soul, thanks for reading this.

I don’t even have to tell you what’s next. It’s Halloween, and this time the theme is ghosts! Prepare for Night of the Poltergeist on October, 31st!

Disciple of Time

Yes, it’s that time again. Time (pun intended) for take 3 of Disciple Month!

Since we’re out of elements, we’re reaching for other things now, hoping to be able to continue this pretty successful series. So this time, we have Time, Sound, Magic and (to top it off) Life & Death.

We’re starting with Time. It’s quite the mess actually, with so many epic tunes in the mix, but I think it works. Should I list them? Sure, why not: Time Castle (Persona 3 FES), Luna Dial (Touhou 6), Fighting of the Spirit (Tales of Phantasia), Song of Time (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time), The Extreme (Final Fantasy VIII), Dark Impetus (Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep), Time Eater (Sonic Generations), Epoch (Chrono Trigger), Bloody Tears (Super Castlevania IV as it actually plays in the Clock Tower there, representing the Clock Tower present in pretty much every Castlevania game).

Crazy, right? There would have been even more to work with, but I hope I picked out the best. No Dialga because the better song (Primal Dialga) was already used in Light and I didn’t want to bother with Spear Pillar. Also no Time Man because that theme is way to chilly. T.T.’s theme would have probably cracked everything too…oh well! Let’s go listen:

Disciple of Time (1380 downloads)

And let’s not forget the related video, don’t forget you can donate if you feel like it:

And that’s the first entry of Disciple Month 3. More awaits of course. Can’t wait to work on Sound

Ultimate Elemental Being

It is done, the ultimate Disciple of the Elements megamix, Ultimate Elemental Being, is here!

Take U.N. Owen was her, Fighting of the Spirit and a tune from each of the elemental Disciple songs and you get this. An almost 8 minutes long megamix. As you can imagine it was quite a lot of work….I hope it was worth it!

And because it’s so special, you can only get it on bandcamp. Remember that there’s only a limited amount of free downloads (about 200 per month), so don’t be surprised if it says 1€ all of a sudden…you’d need to wait about a month until it will be free again:

And here’s the video:

And with that out of the way, we’re ready for Disciple Month 3! Time, Sound, Magic as well as Life&Death awaits…
