The second entry of our second take on video game rivalries is Gruntilda vs Banjo and Kazooie! In time!
As you’d expect, there is the Intro Theme and Gruntilda’s Lair. In addition to that, I also included Mad Monster Mansion, Rusty Bucket Bay (including the part which was used for the final battle as well), Mr. Vile’s Bonus Game (!) and, to top it off, the 10 Jigsaws Fanfare.
Gruntilda was the main antagonist in ALL Banjo-Kazooie games. What started out as a basic hero-enemy constellation turned into a rivalry soon (as with many recurring villains)… as far as I see it anyway…

At last, with some delay after some website plug-in problems, I finally present to you:
The first entry of our second take on video game rivalries, Bowser vs Mario!
There were a lot of themes to choose from for this one, although the musical contrast between Mario’s happy-go-lucky music and Bowser’s dark and badass music certainly didn’t make this easy. In the end I went for the Super Mario Bros.Ground Theme, Bowser’s Theme from Super Mario 64, the Final Boss theme from Super Mario World, the Mega Starman from Super Paper Mario, Dark Bowser from Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story (to show Bowser joins the “good” side if he has to), Final Battle with Bowser from Super Mario Galaxy and an arranged version of the Slide theme from Super Mario 64 in a victory-like way by Dr. Fruitcake on VGMusic.
Bowser and Mario have been maintaining a healthy rivalry over all this years which lead to many, many successful games. To this day I’m still not sure what Bowser’s actual intentions are. Conquering the Mushroom Kingdom? World domination? …Princess Peach? If the latter were true, there would be a certain rivalry between these two.
But even without that, Bowser knows that his only true enemy is Mario, whom he has tried to overcome countless times. And we certainly don’t want to forget the times where someone stronger shows up, in which case Bowser can to put his pride aside and team up with his arch nemesis if the situation calls for it.

The loser of the voting we had a few weeks ago and the last upload before Arch Rival Month 2.
What should have been a Heart of Fire remix as implied by the voting we had, it turned out into a Castlevania-something-megamix. Although it might not be as “mega” as implied…
So at last it contains a lot of other songs as well, let me list them here:
Heart of Fire, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow; the main theme of the song, the theme of Julius Belmont
Dance of Illusions, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon; helps transitioning the intro into the main song
Vampire Killer, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon; underlines Julius’ duties as a Belmont descendant
Divine Bloodlines, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (also Dracula X); theme of Richter Belmont, my favorite of the Belmont’s and a really cool theme at that, which plays in a burning town, so it kinda fits~
Trouble!, Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryƫ to Hikari no Tsurugi; there is a part in Heart of Fire that sounds just like that, so I thought why not exchange those parts~
Last Battle, Cave Story; serves as an epic intro and helps overcome the more uninteresting parts
I don’t know why, it just turned out like that…sorry to those who were hoping for more focus on the Heart of Fire theme :/
