False Disciple of Darkness

I kinda feel like the title already gave it away, but oh well! The sixth entry of NEO Lord of the Elements is NOT True Disciple of Darkness – it’s a faker!

Now you may be wondering: why? Let me explain:

I was about to save the actual True Disciple of Darkness, when Windows notified me that such a file already exists. I was so confused. So I checked, and indeed:

Turns out I already tried to make a true version of Darkness years ago. The reason I never finished it, was that it didn’t sound right – it didn’t sound dark, it sounded…false.

But there was also a lot of effort put in it, some really cool parts – and I’m not one to just let that go to waste. So I saw this as the perfect opportunity to finalize it and add the song to NEO Lord of the Elements. This also gives me another week to finish the actual song. 😉

So without further ado, here’s False Disciple of Darkness:

Need a song list? I got you covered:

  • Fighting of the Spirit
  • Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Main Theme
  • Miracle Matter
  • A Soul as Red as a Ground Cherry
  • Dark Side of Fate
  • Necalli Theme
  • The Shining Needle Castle Sinking in the Air

The video premiered before this post, and it literally let everyone in the dark about this being not the real deal. Before the premiere started, it showed up as True Disciple of Darkness:

The real deal, True Disciple of Darkness, comes out next week. Stay tuned! 😉

Compact Disciple of the Earth

So, I just couldn’t move on from Earth just yet. I originally hadn’t planned for it to become as long as it did, and I felt like the flow of the song suffered a bit from the decision to keep everything that was originally in Disciple of the Earth.

So I came up with a more “compact”, shorter version of True Disciple of the Earth, which leaves out some parts and shortens some to improve the overall flow of the song. I call the result Compact Disciple of the Earth, which is now the fifth song of NEO Lord of the Elements.

Additionally, this version also features some other changes that I consider improvements which will carry over to the album version of True Disciple of the Earth.

Compact Disciple of the Earth (3586 downloads )

It may be shorter, but it’s also pretty compact, so there’s still a lot of themes packed into it:

  • Fighting of the Spirit
  • Tunnel Rhino Stage
  • The Totem God
  • Concrete Jungle
  • Stone Tower Temple
  • Twisted Humiliskate (Rockslide Rumble)
  • Strike the Earth! (Plains of Passage)
  • Cocoa Cave
  • Rock Star

This version removed Native Faith and Cave Story’s Last Boss, otherwise the song list is unchanged. Native Faith seemed to take away too much from the rest of the song despite the cool transition back to Stone Tower Temple, so I decided to remove it for this version. Last Boss was sacrificed for the greater good as well.

And surprise, there’s a video for this version as well – who’d have thought? 😉

Alright, I’m satisfied now. Next up is definitely Darkness. Yeah!

True Disciple of the Earth

First one to be done on time, I didn’t think I’d make it. Get Ready for the fourth song of NEO Lord of the Elements, True Disciple of the Earth!

This one is definitely unexpected as this was not part of the original Lord of the Elements and instead part of the second Disciple album, Master of the Elements. Even more unexpected should be all the changes the song has seen for its true form, as the remake leaves no stone unturned. Hear for yourself:

True Disciple of the Earth (2206 downloads )

I didn’t intend the song to become 8 minutes long again, but here we are. I guess this calls for another song list:

  • Fighting of the Spirit
  • Tunnel Rhino Stage
  • The Totem God
  • Concrete Jungle
  • Native Faith
  • Stone Tower Temple
  • Twisted Humiliskate (Rockslide Rumble)
  • Strike the Earth! (Plains of Passage)
  • Cocoa Cave
  • Last Boss
  • Rock Star

Once again you can use the characters on-screen as reference to what song is playing at which time in the video:

I can’t believe I managed to finish this one on-schedule, seeing how long it became and how many changes there were. The next one isn’t going to be much different, I intend to change it up quite a bit, oof…

Well, two more songs to go – another remake and the final song – let’s see how long these take to make.
