Funky’s Rap-Medley

Are you ready for this year’s grand finale? Brace yourself for Funky’s Rap!

For the final mix of the Year of the Monkey I thought of something special: A DK series medley with the infamous DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64! Although I left out the intro verse and one line in Chunky’s part because they just didn’t want to fit, but other than that I think everything works rather well…I think? I don’t work much with vocals you know…

To top it off, there’s an instrumental version without the vocals as well (Funky’s Medley) for people who just enjoy the medley itself.

The medley features lots of DK tunes, at least one of them should be expected by now:

  • Funky’s Flights (Donkey Kong Country)
  • Funky The Main Monkey (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest)
  • Bad Boss Boogie (Donkey Kong Land)
  • Candy’s Theme (Donkey Kong Jungle Climber)
  • Bad Boss Boogie (Donkey Kong Country)
  • Mining Melancholy (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest)
  • Boss Boogie (Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!)

Now here we go:

Funky's Medley (1632 downloads )

As for the videos, here’s the DK Rap version:

Next up will be (you know it) the release of this year’s Best of 2016 album. I got everything prepared for its scheduled release on December, 31st.

How the King Saved Christmas

Now let me tell you a little story. It’s called: How the King Saved Christmas.

Once upon a time, there was a place called Freezeezy Peak. It was known for its vast amount of snow, which made it a nice place for a holiday trip during Christmas. Many families with their kids would go there and celebrate with each other in this true winter wonderland. There would be singing, children playing in the snow, building snowmen…and snowball fights of course!

But one Christmas season, everything changed. It was a harsh winter. It was cold and stormy. But there was no snow. Freezeezy Peak looked very pale, there were no snowmen, just patches of green and brown. The first families who arrived were shocked to see the usual winter wonderland in such a state. There was no Christmas spirit this season.

During this time, King Dedede was on a trip through the land that he believed was his own. When he visited Freezeezy Peak and saw the state it was in, he knew that he had to do something. Not far from the village where the families lived during their holiday, there was a large, frozen lake. It was said that Freezeezy Peak’s guardian spirit would live there.

Not sure what would await him, the king decided to look for the guardian spirit and ask for help. On his way, he stumbled across several frozen frogs near the lake. Not having any better leads, he decided to follow this trail of frozen frogs, hoping it would lead him in the right direction.

Only a short walk later he found a young girl standing by the lake, holding a frozen frog in her hand. She wore a blue dress and a large blue ribbon in her blue hair. Behind her back, six icicles were floating, making it look like wings. It turns out the king found the guardian spirit after all.

The girl he found is an ice fairy called Cirno, the locals call her the Beloved Tomboyish Girl. King Dedede told her about the state of Freezeezy Peak and asked her if she could help. As if in shock, the fairy suddenly dropped the frozen frog and shouted “It’s Christmas already?! I-I got to hurry!!!” After saying that, she vanished in the village’s direction.

The King decided to head back to the village as well. By the time he returned, it was snowing. Slowly but steadily, the place turned into the winter wonderland it used to be. And just like the snow, joy and happiness returned. There was laughter everywhere, the young ones built a gigantic snowman while the older ones told stories about Christmas in the old days. Just how it used to be in the previous years.

Satisfied, the king continued his journey through the land that he believed was his own. Since that day, every Christmas in Freezeezy Peak, the people would come together and sing a carol called How the King Saved Christmas, forever remembering the actions of the king and the fairy.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Sonic Boom

As promised, you’ll get a super random medley today: Sonic Boom!

The title would suggest it’s a Sonic medley (and indeed, it features 3 classic Sonic tunes), but it actually started as a remix of Guile’s Theme. You know how his main attack is called Sonic Boom? Yeah, people tend to forget about that!

While working on it I threw more and more other tunes in the mix and this monstrosity is the result. Let me list the songs for you:

  • Guile’s Theme (Street Fighter II)
  • Lava Reef Zone (Sonic The Hedgehog 3)
  • Flying Battery Zone (Sonic & Knuckles)
  • Power of “NEO” (Undertale)
  • Bad Boss Boogie (Donkey Kong Land)
  • Red Canyon (F-Zero)
  • Boss (Sonic The Hedgehog)
Sonic Boom (2094 downloads )

Next up is this year’s X-Mas Mix. I thought about some stuff, but I’m not 100% sure what to do yet. It’s not gonna be a boring though, expect…stuff!
