X-Mas Mix – Ice Beam

And it’s that time of the year again! Get out your lil’ Santa hats and turn on those Christmas decoration lights~

While (or rather because) it’s still more or less green outside, I decided to use a theme this year, which comes from a place with a lot of snow and ice: Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime.

Although the initial idea was QUITE different, Ice BeamĀ turned out to be a rather peaceful and soothing song. I was even able to include a bit of Tallon Overworld 2. If I didn’t tell you, I’m sure most of you wouldn’t even have noticed.

As for the video, it’s pretty similar to the last one. I actually wanted to have some nice effects with snow and such, but I don’t think I have the means to do that yet. Maybe next year~

As usual you’ll find the video and download below. Want to show your appreciation? Donate!

Remember that there’s more like this on the X-Mas mixes page! I even made a lil’ X-Mas playlist on YouTube, which includes my songs similar to the Halloween mixes. Do you like your little Christmas present? It sure is quite different from the usual stuff with all those guitars and atmosphere and such.

I may have another surprise waiting for you tomorrow…maybe. What’s for sure is that I want to end this year with a bang, so before I make the usual Best Of 2014 album you’ll get ANOTHER song and this is no less than a SMASH BROS. REMIX! Now THAT’s what I call a true Christmas present~

Into the Desert

And finally, you get that Gerudo Valley remix you might have been waiting for!

Into the Desert is mainly a remix of Gerudo Valley from…do I even need to say it? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, of course. That song already has so many remixes flying around on the internet that it is quite difficult to make something that still stands out. I hope you weren’t expecting too much…

Personally, I always loved the theme…until a while ago. I’ve heard so many remixes and arrangements of it already, the tune kinda lost its charm over the years. So, to spice things up, this song also includes the theme of Koume and Kotake, the two old hags which fused together to form Twinrova, the boss of the Spirit Temple. They also appeared in Majora’s Mask with that theme. We also have a bit of Requiem of Spirit, the ocarina song which would transport you to the Spirit temple. Very desert-themed, you see~

Including the theme of the old hags was actually my friend’s idea. I believe you’ve read that name a lot of times already: VanishingSVST. I instantly knew it would work. Gotta love that catchy tune~

As for the video itself, I invested in an upgrade of my video software and purchased a plug-in for it so I could reach the next level, at least visually. What you see in the video took me the whole day to make…a weekend well spent! I might still be able to improve it a lil’ bit for future projects/add some more stuff, but I hope you can appreciate it for now~

And that’s the Gerudo Valley remix you’ve all been waiting for. I hope you’re not disappointed XO

As for the next song, it’s already THAT time of the year again. Stay tuned for this year’s X-Mas Mix! You wonder what it will be? …so do I!

OST Focus – A Somewhat Mentionable Enemy Emerges

Another OST focus for you! This time we have the quirky Miniboss tune A Somewhat Mentionable Enemy Emerges from the animated series Luigi’s Terrific Quest, created by VanishingSVST.

Just to let you know, there’s gonna be minibosses and they’re gonna be f*cking awesome.

This quirky miniboss tune was inspired by Super Paper Mario‘s A Powerful Enemy Emerges (as you might have guessed from the title!), although it’s an original song. The song is not supposed to sound very serious and more a bit funny and odd. Actually, there’s also a boss version of this song which you can find on the OST page. Or you wait a lil’ bit longer and I’ll present it in the next-next OST focus! That’s…probably next year though!

Unlike the title suggests, I’d say the minibosses will definitely be mentionable. Just look at the Crimson Bully the series’ creator drew for the video. Remember those guys from Super Mario 64 that threw you? Like, off mountains and such? Really harsh. Remember Bullies from the same game, who mostly wanted to ram you into the lava and such? Take these enemies, give the result Super Saiyan eyebrows and you get a (somewhat mentionable) miniboss: the Crimson Bully! There’s a lot more where that came from~

If you like the song, there should be some more songs like that on the OST page! Don’t forget to check out the Boss version A Formidable Foe Emerges while you’re at it~

Next time on OST focus, we hear even more Luigi’s Terrific Quest songs. Gotta love that series! Also I’ll get to work on that Gerudo Valley remix right now. I also have to prepare this year’s X-Mas mix already, time passes by so quickly!
