Welcome Aboard

You know, back when the Smash Bros. ballot was a thing (where apparently most people voted for Bayonetta for some reason), you know who I voted for? King K. Rool. So after the last Smash Bros. Direct, which revealed him to be a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I thought it was time to celebrate. Since I obviously haven’t made enough of these already, prepare yourself for another Donkey Kong medley…say Welcome Aboard King K. Rool!

Welcome Aboard is basically a King K. Rool battle medley going up to Donkey Kong Country 3 and optionally hinting at Donkey Kong 64, although it doesn’t include his battle theme from that game. To sum it up, the medley features:

  • Bad Boss Boogie – Donkey Kong Land (I know you’ve seen this one coming!)
  • Final Boss (Unused) – Donkey Kong Land (Bad Boss Boogie serves as the final boss theme in that game, although this tune sounds so cool…I wonder why it wasn’t included – maybe space restrictions?)
  • Gangplank Galleon – Donkey Kong Country (the main focus of the song)
  • Crocodile Cacophony – Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest
  • Big Boss Blues – Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!
  • [Optional] DK Rap (?) – Donkey Kong 64

Seeing how many of these DK medleys I already made, one might think I was probably just waiting for an excuse to make another one. Well…you’re not wrong!

There are two versions of this song, one that features an altered version of the DK Rap (the King K. Rap?) and one that entirely skips that part. Just grab the one you like best – or both:

Still can’t believe they actually added King K. Rool to Smash…well, at least we now have a song to celebrate just that. It feels a bit rough around the edges at some parts (I started working on this mix two days ago…), might have to make some adjustments for the Best Of 2018 version.

And one last thing: I was actually thinking about calling the song Welkome Aboard, but that just looked so weird to me~

Clad In Shadow – Shadow Slick

As announced last week, this day marks the birth of Clad in Shadow Vol.2! A week late, but I hope it was worth the wait. Cue copy’n’paste explanation:

In this project, tunes get a ‘Shadow‘ version by mixing them with a Persona Battle Theme. They will usually have a darker feeling to them as well. Exceptions prove the rule though.

Vol.2 starts with Shadow Slick, the shadow version of Doopliss’ Theme from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It was one of the first of the shadow songs I originally made for the Super Mario: Vanishing Existence series and you can still make out some parts the original had – although not many. This version features the Battle theme of Persona 2: Innocent Sin as well as the Battle and Boss themes of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Also some lightning and spooky sound effects – looks like Halloween is early this year~

Here’s what I settled with for the presentation of the Clad in Shadow videos for now:

 

I’ll try to make up for the delay by preparing a new song for next Sunday. Shouldn’t be too much of a problem, since I have the next week off. Can’t say what it will be though!

Update July 2018

I’ll keep this short: I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather lately and don’t have anything ready to upload today… I’m getting back into it though and will hopefully have something to show next Sunday.

I’ll likely have the week following next week off, so I might be able to make up for this delay – but I don’t want to promise too much, you know how it goes sometimes~

Remember that Clad in Shadow songs aren’t going to be made in a row like usual album projects, but instead irregularly, whenever I feel like working on something evil~
