Disciple of the Storm

This is another of these situations where I saw a viewer comment that led me to listen to one of my older songs (the original Disciple of the Wind) and made me instantly think “Damn, this slaps, but the quality is not very good – I should update this”. For this song it’s getting a little complicated, because I technically already remade this song before, as part of the first Disciple Month album Lord of the Elements. So I decided to change the name of the remake to Disciple of the Storm.

Compared to the version from Lord of the Elements (which added Molgera for example) this one stays true to the original. Or “truer” – I decided to remove the Faith is for the Transient People parts entirely in favor of more Song of Storms parts. Other than that you get the usual changes in instruments, drums, added effects, more powerful backing, etc – all in all I think this turned out really well and is (in my humble opinion) far superior to both versions of Disciple of the Wind. But to be perfectly honest, I completely forgot that the Disciple of the Wind in Lord of the Elements was actually a remake/remix of the original song…

To sum it up, Disciple of the Storm contains the following themes:

  • Fighting of the Spirit (Tales of Phantasia)
  • Thunder Tornado (Mega Man 9)
  • Wind God Girl (Touhou 9: Phantasmagoria of Flower View)
  • Song of Storms (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

So let’s hear it:

Disciple of the Storm (1920 downloads )

And as usual there’s a video to go along with it:

This is just another remake, and it’s a one-shot, so don’t expect another Disciple Month because of this. I hear your calls, but I just don’t feel like I can pull off another one – the third one already felt way too forced. I can imagine that one or the other of the original Disciple Month songs might get a similar treatment as Wind here, but that’s probably it.

Mogu Mogu Yummy (DJ the S Remix)

This one is gonna be a bit different, but today I’ll share my remix of the cool cat Nekomata Okayu’s awesome song Mogu Mogu Yummy. If you already fell into the VTuber/hololive rabbit hole, you might already know the tune, otherwise click here to check out the original song and here to check out Okayu’s channel (warning: you may not return).

I’m sticking closely to hololive’s Derivative Works Guidelines, so I will only share the song on YouTube. Here is the video:

I’ve been thinking a lot about if I should actually share it or not, because I have no idea how my audience might react. But in the end it’s a remix of a really cool song, which is basically what I usually make, right?

This doesn’t mean you should expect more hololive remixes or anything like that. Unless…?

Offbeat Anomaly

A week later than I hoped, but once again I have a somewhat new song to show, and it’s a DJ the S original no less – Offbeat Anomaly.

“Somewhat” new? Some of you might remember (or know from the OST page) that I once made a song called “With Evil Intentions”. It was meant to be the theme of the main antagonist of a now cancelled series. And now, at least a year after someone asked me to do that, I finally got around to turn it into a full song – with a much cooler name in my opinion~

Let’s talk copyright a bit: This is a completely original song, and I give you permission to use it for whatever you feel like – or even make a remix of it. If you do end up using it, it would make me very happy if you credited me somewhere 🙂

Offbeat Anomaly (1864 downloads )

Since I don’t have much original art, the video might look a little bland this time, bare with me here:

Since I’m a week late, I’m hoping that I can prepare another song for next week. But there’s just so much going on lately, my mind’s been kind of a mess. Let’s hope for the best though!
