Let There Be Fire DJ the S Remix

Time to end this year with a bang. Today I got something special for you – a remix of Let There Be Fire by Aviators. Because I keep doing weird things, I also added Divine Identity (aka Brahman) from Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 and Stone Tower Temple from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask to the mix. These two themes seem to always come up in the last remix of the year as of late. Coincidence? Probably not~

Some of you may already know this (but many of you probably don’t), but I am a very big Soulsborne fan, especially of the Dark Souls series (and especially Dark Souls 3). And although the music of that series is iconic, I couldn’t really find any songs that I would like to make a remix of to show that.

Let There Be Fire is an original song by Aviators inspired by the Dark Souls series – everyone who knows a bit about the lore of Dark Souls 1 will see the obvious connections. So I went ahead and grabbed the vocals of that song (available by buying the song or album on Bandcamp) and did my thing. Now I’m not very good with mixing vocals at all, but I can assure that I had a lot of fun making this song regardless, even if I couldn’t quite do it justice.

For the thumbnail of the video I used one of my Dark Souls 3 screenshots, which shows all of the different invader types coming together in Farron Woods to chill together – if only there was a bonfire (let there be fire?):

And that concludes 2021. It’s been kinda crazy with all the COVID-19 stuff going on, and we also now have a Discord fan server where I’m learning new things every day.

This year there will be a Best of album again. I didn’t make one last year because there simply weren’t enough to warrant it, so it will also include songs from 2020. I will have to exclude a few songs from it, namely this one and the Mogu Mogu Yummy Remix.

This Let There Be Fire Remix needs settings that differ from those I usually have on my albums, because the copyright on the original song demands that if I make a remix of it, it needs to be available with the same copyright settings. So I might release this as a single track on bandcamp at one point, we’ll see. Until then it will only be available through my website, so don’t wait for it – grab it now if you like it šŸ˜‰

I will likely take some time off (meaning no new songs for a bit) to get the album Best of DJ the S 2020 & 2021 out by the end of January, but don’t quote me on it. Anyway, I wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope to see you all in 2022!

Floating Serenity

Would you look at the date, it’s Christmas again! Time for another X-Mas Mix I’d say!

And while thematically the tunes I used have nothing to do with Christmas or winter or anything, it definitely feels like it – I hope you’ll agree when you listen to Floating Serenity:

The mix features some fancy and catchy tunes, namely Normal Duel (PokĆ©mon Trading Card Game), Staff Credits (Kirby Super Star) and Underground (Yoshi’s Island). This wasn’t originally meant to be an X-Mas Mix, but the way it turned out I felt it was just perfect for that occasion.

Be sure to check out the video too, as usual:

In other news, there will be a Discord fan server soon! I’ll be gone for a bit to celebrate Christmas with my family, but will be back in a few days to officially release the link to the server to the public. Hope to see you there šŸ˜‰

Merry Christmas everyone!

Disciple of the Storm

This is another of these situations where I saw a viewer comment that led me to listen to one of my older songs (the original Disciple of the Wind) and made me instantly think “Damn, this slaps, but the quality is not very good – I should update this”. For this song it’s getting a little complicated, because I technically already remade this song before, as part of the first Disciple Month album Lord of the Elements. So I decided to change the name of the remake to Disciple of the Storm.

Compared to the version from Lord of the Elements (which added Molgera for example) this one stays true to the original. Or “truer” – I decided to remove the Faith is for the Transient People parts entirely in favor of more Song of Storms parts. Other than that you get the usual changes in instruments, drums, added effects, more powerful backing, etc – all in all I think this turned out really well and is (in my humble opinion) far superior to both versions of Disciple of the Wind. But to be perfectly honest, I completely forgot that the Disciple of the Wind in Lord of the Elements was actually a remake/remix of the original song…

To sum it up, Disciple of the Storm contains the following themes:

  • Fighting of the Spirit (Tales of Phantasia)
  • Thunder Tornado (Mega Man 9)
  • Wind God Girl (Touhou 9: Phantasmagoria of Flower View)
  • Song of Storms (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

So let’s hear it:

And as usual there’s a video to go along with it:

This is just another remake, and it’s a one-shot, so don’t expect another Disciple Month because of this. I hear your calls, but I just don’t feel like I can pull off another one – the third one already felt way too forced. I can imagine that one or the other of the original Disciple Month songs might get a similar treatment as Wind here, but that’s probably it.
